Isla de la Plata
Also known as "Little Galapagos" is located 20 miles off the coast of Machalilla national park. The Island is one of the key tourist attractions because of its natural habitat as a refuge and nesting site for seabirds such as blue-footed boobies, frigates, pelicans, tropical birds, albatrosses and sea lions. Also it has the best Scuba diving and snorkeling in the area (to compare with Galapagos, hence the nickname “Poor Mna's Galapagos”).
The trip starts from Go Montanita Office, where we catch a ride to Puerto Lopez. Then when in Puerto Lopez we catch an hour boat ride to the Island. When you get off the boat an on the shore, you are about one foot deep water, recommended to take trail shoes or trekking sandals (and carry them off the boat). You can leave your items on the boat during the walk. After the walk guided walk we take the group snorkeling and then finally head back to Puerto Lopez to catch our ride to Montanita.
